The Deputy Director for Democracy and Technology at the National Democratic Institute (NDI), Ms. Sarah Moulton, paid a courtesy visit to the Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Lenora Qereqeretabua.
The meeting looked at a wide range of issues, namely strengthening democracy, elevating women’s role in leadership and politics, the evolving digital environment and the detrimental effects of misinformation and disinformation in the information space and avenues to address these challenges.
Ms. Moulton commended Hon. Qereqeretabua and thanked her for the updates on the Coalition Government’s initiatives on strengthening democracy such as the convening of Local Government elections next year.
They also discussed avenues for further engagement and collaboration in the future.
Ms. Moulton was on four-day visit to Fiji and met with senior Government Ministers, Statutory Bodies, civil society organizations, academia and media personnel.
