Assistance to Fiji Nationals

Call triple (111) one when you need an emergency response from Police, Fire or Ambulance.

Call 105 for Police non-emergencies.

Fiji nationals visiting New Zealand should call the Fiji High Commission in Wellington on (04) 473 5401 or the Honorary Consul on 021 626 282 in the event of an emergency that requires consular assistance.

Consular Assistance does not include:

  • Resolving New Zealand immigration issues such as illegal entry, pending visa applications or expired visas;
  • Intervention in court cases or bail a Fiji National out of prison; pay for legal advice or services; initiating investigation of a
  • crime or Start court proceedings for you;
  • Organizing to get you better treatment in hospital or prison than is generally offered to New Zealand citizens;
  • Payment of hotel, legal, medical or any other bills;
  • Payment of travel costs,
  • Payment for the repatriation of human remains/body;
  • Work normally done by travel agents, airlines, banks or motoring organisations;
  • Finding accommodation, a job or work permit.

The High Commission and the Honorary Consul can only provide policy advice in relation to matters listed above where applicable. We are however able to provide information on how to access certain services and contact family and friends on your behalf.

Checklist of New Passport

Step 1 – Book an appointment online on our website. If online is not viable, please send an email to viti.fhc@gmail.com to book an appointment or contact our Consular Division on phone number: 04 4735401/02

Step 2 – Travel to Wellington for the appointment. Appointments are done at the Fiji High Commission in Wellington. We are located at 31 Pipitea Street, Thorndon, Wellington. Applicants (only) are required to attend however Minors under 18 can be accompanied by either one of the parents. Elderly/Disabled will also need be accompanied by one other adult.

Step 3 – Please bring the required documents (Please read checklists) on the day of your appointment. Please Note: If applicants are unable to meet their appointments due to unforeseen circumstances which may include delayed flights, please advise our Consular team as soon as practicable
