The Commonwealth

Fiji’s relationship with the Commonwealth spans over several decades, built upon shared values and collaborative efforts across various sectors. As an active member of the Commonwealth, Fiji maintains strong diplomatic ties with fellow member states, working together to advance peace, democracy, and sustainable development initiatives.

Our engagement with the Commonwealth is characterized by proactive participation in a multitude of programs, initiatives, and forums. We remain steadfast in our commitment to Commonwealth principles, including democracy, good governance, human rights, and the rule of law. This dedication is evident through our involvement in various Commonwealth activities aimed at promoting inclusive and transparent governance practices.

A pivotal aspect of our Commonwealth engagement is our participation in the various Ministerial meetings, particularly at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meetings (CHOGM). These gatherings serve as invaluable platforms for leaders from member states to address pressing issues affecting our nations and the broader Commonwealth community. They afford Fiji the opportunity to articulate our perspectives, exchange ideas, and collaborate with fellow member states on shared concerns such as climate change, economic development, and regional security.

Furthermore, Fiji benefits significantly from the technical assistance and capacity-building support provided by Commonwealth institutions and programs. These resources, spanning areas such as education, health, trade, and governance, bolster our efforts to achieve our development objectives and improve the well-being of our citizens.

In essence, Fiji’s relationship with the Commonwealth is defined by collaboration, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to advancing the prosperity and well-being of all member states. Through ongoing engagement and cooperation, Fiji proudly upholds our status as an active and valued member of the Commonwealth family, contributing meaningfully to collective efforts aimed at shaping a better future for all. https://thecommonwealth.org/
