Security encompasses the Mission’s activities in the traditional areas of security, including police/ military/ defence cooperation and in the non-traditional aspect of security such as food security.
4th Multilateral Naval Exercise Komodo and 5th International Maritime Security Symposium (IMSS)
Fiji participated in the 4th Multilateral Naval Exercise Komodo 2023 and the 5th International Maritime Security Symposium in Makassar, Indonesia, for the first time. The event, focusing on “Partnership to Recover and To Rise Stronger,” aimed to strengthen regional security cooperation to tackle COVID-19 and climate change impacts. The event shared insights on national security strategies and emphasized the need for multilateral cooperation to address geopolitical dynamics and non-traditional maritime challenges, such as natural disasters and pandemics.
Fiji is among the 36 countries to have participated in the MNEK and IMSS which was based on the theme, “Partnership To Recover And To Rise Stronger”.
