Purpose<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The Institute is established to promote the advancement of the practice of environmental health in Fiji in alignment with the Allied Health Practitioners Decree 2011 through establishing and maintaining inter alia a registration institution for environmental health practitioners to facilitate associate membership into the Fiji Health Practitioners Society. [Part 3, 15(2)]<\/p>\n

Objectives<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The objectives of the institute are:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • To assist the Fiji Allied Health Workers Society, the government of Fiji and the public in general by maintaining control and professional oversight of the legitimate practice of Environmental Health.<\/li>\n
  • To promote by all practicable means the advancement and development of all questions and matters relating to or having for their objects the benefits of the Environmental Health in all its branches.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Functions<\/span><\/h4>\n

    1.The functions of the institute, through its Council and committees are to:<\/span><\/p>\n

      \n
    • Represent generally the views and interests of the profession of Environmental Health and to preserve and maintain its integrity by imposing strict rules of conduct as a condition of membership and by other means promoting just and honorable practice in the profession.<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Acquire and maintain the professional status and interest of its members, their integrity as prescribed by the FIEH members\u2019 Code of Ethics, the elevation of character, rights and privileges of the Environmental Health profession.<\/span><\/li>\n
    •  Acquire any rights and privileges which the Institute may regard as necessary or convenient for the purpose of the Institute or for promoting the interests of the profession of Environmental health.<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Provide professional assistance for the protection of the interest of any member or members of the profession in cases which may be deemed to involve the questions of principles affecting the profession generally and not the individual interests of the parties litigating only. Provided that the Institute shall not commit any breach of infringement of any law relating to the maintenance or champerty.<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Watch over any proposed legislation or Government action affecting the profession of Environmental Health; to promote such legislation in the interests<\/span>
      \nof the profession; to combat and oppose such legislation or action may be found to be contrary to the interests of the profession.<\/span><\/li>\n
    •  Aid, encourage and provide means for the theoretical investigation and study of any matters relating to Environmental Health.<\/span><\/li>\n
    •  Establish and maintain such museum, library and data base for the dissemination of knowledge and information on Environment Health generally.<\/span><\/li>\n
    •  Conduct and appropriately fund where practical, courses, workshops and conferences in matters relating to Environmental Health and to issue<\/span>
      \nprofessional certificates as the Institute may from time to time think fit.<\/span><\/li>\n
    •  Diffuse amongst its members information on all matters affecting or of importance to the profession of Environmental Health and to print, publish<\/span>
      \nissues and circulate such papers, periodicals, books, circulars and other literacy or artistic matter as may seem conducive to any of these objects.<\/span><\/li>\n
    •  Affiliate or work in collaboration with other Institutions, Government and Non-Government organizations having allied objects, interests and vision or in any similar to those of this Institute locally or abroad.<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Borrow or raise money in such a manner as the Institute may think fit.<\/span><\/li>\n
    •  Invest any monies of the Institute not immediately for any of its object in such manner as may from time to time be determined.<\/span><\/li>\n
    •  Provide facilities for social interaction between members of the Institute, their families and friends and if thought necessary to establish a club for this purpose.<\/span><\/li>\n
    •  Consider the welfare of members including a fair share of benefits provided through the institute.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      2. The income and property of the Institute, however derived shall be applied solely towards the promotion of the objects of the Institute as set forth in this Constitution and no portion thereof shall be paid or transferred directly or indirectly by way of dividends or bonus.<\/span><\/p>\n

      3. Provided that nothing herein shall prevent the payment in good faith or remunerations fees or honorarium or out of pocket expenses to any officer or other person for any services to the Institute, nor prevent the payment of interest or money borrowed from any institution.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n<\/section>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
