We are now in our 3 certification and thank the Ministry of Fisheries and WWF Pacific for being partners for the certification.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row gap=&#8221;35&#8243; equal_height=&#8221;yes&#8221; rtl_reverse=&#8221;yes&#8221; content_placement=&#8221;middle&#8221; css_animation=&#8221;fadeInUp&#8221;][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h2>Conservation International (CI) partnered with FFIA<\/h2>\n<p>FFIA\u2019s partnership with CI has been instrumental in promoting sustainable and socially responsible practices in Fiji\u2019s fishing industry. As a key industry representative, FFIA contributes valuable insights from Fiji&#8217;s longline tuna fishery, highlighting national needs, current practices, and areas for improvement in gear disposal and environmental protection. FFIA supports the project\u2019s goals of improving the collection, management, and recycling of EoL fishing gear, and plays an important role in shaping national responses to ALDFG issues, particularly those affecting Fiji\u2019s outer islands.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=&#8221;Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) Certification&#8221; tab_id=&#8221;1753317534317-f994852b-4eea&#8221;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]FFIA has been working closely with the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) to support the certification of Fiji\u2019s longline tuna fisheries. As part of this effort, FFIA participated in MSC-led capacity building programs, including the 2023 APAC Level 2 Training, which focused on MSC standards, fishery assessments, and chain of custody requirements. This collaboration aims to strengthen industry readiness, promote sustainable fishing practices, and enhance market access through compliance with internationally recognized certification standards.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=&#8221;Conservation International (CI) partnered with FFIA&#8221; tab_id=&#8221;1753317534326-204d686a-3a19&#8243;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>FFIA\u2019s partnership with Conservation International (CI) has been instrumental in promoting sustainable and socially responsible practices in Fiji\u2019s fishing industry. Through a formal <strong>Memorandum of Understanding<\/strong> (MoU), FFIA and CI have collaborated on several key initiatives, including the <strong>Social Responsibility Assessment (SRA) project<\/strong>. With CI securing funding and technical support through LRQA, this project addresses critical areas such as child and forced labour, contract transparency, occupational health and safety, and collective bargaining.<\/p>\n<p>CI has also supported the \u201c<strong>Value Chain and Market Analysis of Fiji\u2019s Tuna Longline Industry<\/strong>,\u201d a landmark study initiated in 2022 to map the industry\u2019s value chain and assess its economic contribution. In 2024, CI has continued to assist FFIA in sharing the findings and engaging stakeholders to address challenges facing the sector.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, CI introduced the <strong>Jurisdictional Approach for Tuna<\/strong> as a framework for improving national-level fisheries management through inclusive and coordinated action.
