FFIA Stakeholder Engagement<\/h2>\n

  1. Ministry of Fisheries <\/strong>\u2013 Issues fishing licenses and authorisations, enforces the Offshore Fisheries Act and related regulations, and implements management measures from WCPFC. Oversees on-board and onshore monitoring, control, and surveillance to combat IUU fishing.<\/li>\n
  2. Ministry of Employment, Productivity & Industrial Relations<\/strong> \u2013 Regulates and enforces labour standards, occupational health and safety requirements, and the Employment Relations Act.<\/li>\n
  3. Ministry of Health<\/strong> \u2013 Conducts vessel and crew health inspections, issues Marine Board & Ship Sanitation Certificates, and provides health certification for exported fish and fishery products.<\/li>\n
  4. Ministry of Agriculture<\/strong> \u2013 Sets standards for fumigation products used on fishing vessels.<\/li>\n
  5. Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji (MSAF)<\/strong> \u2013 Regulates vessel safety, seafarer qualifications, and conducts pre-departure inspections.<\/li>\n
  6. Ministry of Trade<\/strong> \u2013 Leads trade negotiations, facilitates market access, and promotes fisheries exports.<\/li>\n
  7. Fiji Ports <\/strong>\u2013 Administers major ports under the Sea Ports Management Act 2005.<\/li>\n
  8. Fiji Navy <\/strong>\u2013 Monitors and inspects fishing vessels at sea.<\/li>\n
  9. Department of Immigration<\/strong> \u2013 Manages visa processing and immigration enforcement.<\/li>\n
  10. Fiji Customs and Revenue Service<\/strong> \u2013 Administers customs and border protection, and collects taxes.<\/li>\n
  11. Ministry of Environment<\/strong> \u2013 Ensures compliance with national environmental laws, conservation objectives, and sustainable resource management, including environmental impact assessments, biodiversity protection, and waste management.<\/li>\n
  12. Fiji Commerce and Employers Federation (FCEF) <\/strong>\u2013 Represents FFIA and the fishing industry\u2019s employer interests at the national level, advocating on labour policies, workplace standards, and industrial relations. Provides training, policy consultations, and networking opportunities to strengthen industry compliance and workforce capacity.<\/li>\n
  13. National Union of Factory and Commercial Workers<\/strong> \u2013 Represents employees in the fishing and processing industry.<\/li>\n
  14. Pacific Islands Forum Fisheries Agency (FFA) \u2013<\/strong> Supports sustainable development of Pacific oceanic fisheries through monitoring, control, surveillance, and member development initiatives.<\/li>\n
  15. Pacific Community (SPC)<\/strong> \u2013 Provides scientific and technical expertise to build member capacity in tuna fisheries and bycatch management.<\/li>\n
  16. Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission (WCPFC<\/strong>) \u2013 Regional fisheries management organisation for tuna resources in the WCPO, of which Fiji is a member.<\/li>\n
  17. Pacific Centre for Maritime Studies (Fiji National University)<\/strong> \u2013 Delivers maritime and fishing-related education and training.<\/li>\n
  18. University of the South Pacific (USP) <\/strong>\u2013 Conducts laboratory testing for export fish and fishery products.<\/li>\n
  19. Human Dignity Group<\/strong> \u2013 Advocates for fisher rights and conducts research on human rights in the fishing industry.<\/li>\n
  20. World Wildlife Fund (WWF)<\/strong> \u2013 Global conservation organisation with a long-standing partnership with FFIA on sustainability initiatives.<\/li>\n

    \n Pacific Community (SPC) <\/td>\n \n SPC continues to build capacity for its members to better understand the science aspects of tuna and tuna-like species and by-catch it is associated with. <\/td>\n <\/tr>\n
    \n University of the South Pacific (USP) <\/td>\n \n Conducts lab tests on export fish and fishery products. <\/td>\n <\/tr>\n
    \n Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission (WCPFC) <\/td>\n \n WCPFC is the regional fisheries management organisation (RFMO) that manages the tuna resources within the WCPO and Fiji, with most Pacific Island Countries are either party to or participating territories. <\/td>\n <\/tr>\n

    \n Conservation International <\/td>\n \n A new entrant to the offshore fisheries and has been working with the Association in the areas of economics, environment, and social aspects of the industry. <\/td>\n <\/tr>\n
    \n Ministry of Environment <\/td>\n \n Ensures that fishing industry operates in line with national environmental laws, conservation objectives, and sustainable resource management goals.
